I Am From Poem

I Am From...
By Lacey Lee

I am from blonde hair, French braids
and summer popsicles homemade.

I am from prayers before bedtime, grace before meals,
family celebrated holidays and hands that heal.

I am from hugs and kisses, sisters of 2, love, tears
and a mother that helped me through.

I am from friday night pizza, gymnastics my second home,
homework first and clothes that were sewn.

I am from summer road trips horseback rides, grandparents home,
eleven years, almost grown.

I am from garden sweet peas, single mom,
so much love you can't go wrong.

I am from chores every week, climbing trees,
sleepovers at Aunty Sandy and Uncle Andy's,
scraped elbows and knees.

I am from long talks, wisdom, teenage woes,
a new dad and more love that shows.

I am from the years 26, love so young,
marital bliss and teaching to come.

I am from blessings abundant, weekends at the lake,
2 miniature schnauzers and a future to make.
