Summer 2008 EDPSY 310 Learning in the Classroom

I took this class online through Colorado State Universtiy. It was loaded with information.  I took so many notes to keep in my classroom. There were so many bits and pieces of information that will help in various situations. This class was like the teacher's manual to student behavior and different cultures. I live in a place where there is a lot of cultural diversity. Teachers need to be aware of culture and beliefs in order to teach students in a way that will benefit them. Teachers also need to teach in a way that meets the individual needs of every students. A teacher can do neither of these if they are not educated in the ways of culture and educational psychology. I am not saying teachers are or should be experts in psychology but they need a good foundation of knowledge in the subject.
I really liked this class.  I do wish it would have been a longer more indept course. I think this is one of those classes that teachers should be required to take every 5 years or so. There is always new information and better ways to teach as time goes on.
